One of the goals of Lorik Humanitarian Fund's Small Business Development Program is to provide practical aid that helps displaced Artsakh families rebuild sustainable sources of income and achieve long-term stability.
Recently, we provided small business aid to Avo, from Gavahan Village in Martuni, helping him expand and improve his butcher business in Armenia.
Following the forced displacement from Artsakh, Avo and his family faced the difficult task of rebuilding their lives while establishing a reliable source of income.
Through this grant, Avo was able to acquire a commercial refrigerator, a rotisserie chicken machine, and make improvements to his business location. These investments will help increase production capacity, improve operations, and create new opportunities for growth.
Avo's project is one of several initiatives already supported through Lorik Humanitarian Fund's Small Business Development Program.
To date, the program has received 193 applications from displaced Artsakh families seeking assistance to establish or expand small businesses and income-generating activities. Projects funded so far include beekeeping, tailoring, poultry farming, rabbit farming, bakery operations, hairstyling services, and other entrepreneurial ventures.
What has been especially encouraging is how much impact relatively modest grants can have. While some projects require additional investment, many can be launched or expanded with approximately $1,500 in support, providing families with the tools, equipment, livestock, or infrastructure needed to create sustainable livelihoods.
We believe that long-term recovery requires more than emergency aid. By combining humanitarian aid with economic opportunity, families can rebuild businesses, generate income, and create long-term stability for themselves and their children.
Small business aid is about more th
an equipment. It is about restoring independence, creating opportunity, and helping families rebuild their futures with dignity.
We are grateful to everyone who supports this work and makes these projects possible.
