After being displaced from Artsakh, Ardzvig Lalayan is rebuilding his livelihood through beekeeping.
A veteran of three wars, Ardzvig now faces a different kind of challenge — creating long-term stability and supporting his family after displacement.
Through Lorik Humanitarian Fund’s newly launched Small Business Development Program, we awarded approximately $6,500 in support to help expand his beekeeping operation and strengthen his ability to generate sustainable income in Armenia.
The project will help support:
Acquisition of more than 20 new beehives
Essential beekeeping tools and equipment
Renovation of the space where honey will be processed and stored
Beyond Emergency Aid
While emergency assistance remains important, long-term recovery also depends on whether families are able to rebuild independent livelihoods.
Programs focused on small business development allow displaced families to move toward:
self-sufficiency
stability
long-term economic independence
Rather than temporary aid alone.
This grant is one of the first awarded through Lorik Humanitarian Fund’s expanding business development initiative.
Growing Interest in Small Business Support
Last week, Lorik Humanitarian Fund opened applications for its Small Business Development Program and received 72 applications from displaced individuals and families seeking support to rebuild income-generating activities.
The response reflects both the scale of the need and the determination of displaced families to rebuild through work, skill, and entrepreneurship.
