Small Business Aid Helps Anahit Reopen Her Bakery After Displacement from Artsakh

One of the goals of Lorik Humanitarian Fund's Small Business Development Program is to provide practical aid that helps displaced Artsakh families rebuild sustainable livelihoods and regain economic independence.

Recently, we provided support to Anahit, originally from Her Her village in the Martuni region of Artsakh, helping her reopen and expand her bakery in Armenia.

Following the forced displacement from Artsakh, Anahit and her family faced the challenge of rebuilding their lives while creating a reliable source of income. Through a small business aid grant, Lorik Humanitarian Fund helped provide bakery equipment and funding to renovate the business location.

These improvements will allow Anahit to increase production, better serve her customers, and strengthen the long-term sustainability of her business.

Anahit's bakery is located next to another business recently supported through the program—a butcher shop operated by Avo Hakobjanyan, also originally from the Martuni region. Together, these neighboring businesses reflect the determination of displaced Artsakh families working to rebuild their lives through entrepreneurship and hard work.

Anahit's project is one of several initiatives already supported through Lorik Humanitarian Fund's Small Business Development Program.

To date, the program has received 197 applications fr

om displaced Artsakh families seeking assistance to establish or expand income-generating activities. Projects funded so far include beekeeping, tailoring, poultry farming, rabbit farming, food production, hairstyling services, and other small businesses.

What has been especially encouraging is how much impact relatively modest grants can have. While some projects require additional investment, many can be launched or expanded with approximately $1,500 in support, providing families with the tools, equipment, livestock, or infrastructure needed to create sustainable livelihoods.

We believe that long-term recovery requires more than emergency aid. By combining humanitarian aid with economic opportunity, families can rebuild businesses, generate income, and create lasting stability for themselves and their children.

Small business aid is about more than equipment. It is about restoring independence, creating opportunity, and helping families rebuild their futures with dignity.
