Garo & Sevan Family Update

A Beautiful Update From One of Our Families — Garo & Sevan’s Growing Agro-Business

ree

Dear Friends and Supporters,

I’m very happy to share an update from one of our beneficiary families, Garo, Sevan, and their daughter Maral, now living in Mikhayelovka village in the Lori region.

Many of you will remember their story: Garo and Sevan originally came to Armenia from Syria during the Syrian civil war. After the 2020 war in Artsakh, Lorik Humanitarian Fund helped relocate their family from Yerevan to Medz Shen, in the Berdzor region (never “Lachin”, we only use Armenian names) of Artsakh. The community needed a nurse, and Sevan stepped into that role with dedication.

They lived and served there until the forced displacement of 2023, making them a family uprooted not once—but twice. Yet they continue to build, create, and hope.

Today, we are proud to show you how beautifully they are rebuilding their lives in their new home in Mikayelovka—one of the five families Lorik Fund has housed in the same village, creating a strong, supportive community.

🌱 Their Agro-Business: Clean, Chemical-Free, and Thriving

Garo and Sevan sent us a presentation of the garden and small-scale agro-business they have built with their own hands. Their garden spans 2800 square meters

Here’s what they are growing and producing:

  • A wide range of ecologically clean produce — grown with zero chemicals

  • Fresh vegetables, strawberries, beans, chickpeas, and fava beans.

  • Dozens of jars of homemade pickles, preserves, and canned vegetables.

  • Tomato and pepper paste cooked outdoors over wood fires, the traditional way.

  • Specialty items like Mexican Jalapeños and Cowboy Candy.

  • And most recently—new blueberry plants, an exciting expansion for their farm.

Their products are made with care, honesty, and pride—representing the resilience of a family determined to rebuild their future.

🧡 A Family Who Keeps Rising

What moves us most is that Garo and Sevan have never lost hope.Despite being displaced twice, they continue to work their land, grow food, and dream of expanding their small agro-business.

Their home in Mikayelovka—made possible by your donations—gave them the stability to start again. And because they live in the same village as four other Artsakh families we’ve housed, they benefit from a growing sense of community support, shared work, and mutual care.

This is exactly why our village-based housing model matters.
