🎹 From Artsakh to Armenia: Piano Instructor Garen Nasibyan Keeps Music Alive

In 2023, thousands of Armenian families were forcibly displaced from Artsakh. Homes were lost. Villages were emptied. Lives were uprooted.

But identity was not erased.

Among those rebuilding is Garen Nasibyan, a piano instructor from Artsakh, son of the composer of Artsakh's anthem. After displacement, like so many others, he faced the uncertainty of starting over in Armenia. Yet through the upheaval, one constant remained — music.

Preserving Culture After Displacement

For displaced Artsakh Armenians, rebuilding is not only about housing and employment. It is about protecting cultural identity, language, and heritage.

Music plays a central role in that preservation.

Through a dedicated initiative by Lorik Humanitarian Fund, we provided a piano and continue to fund music classes so that displaced children can continue learning under Garen’s instruction.

This is not simply a lesson in piano. It is a lesson in continuity.

Why Cultural Preservation Matters

When communities are displaced, there is a risk that traditions fade, that mentorship disappears, and that the next generation loses connection to its roots.

Supporting educators like Garen ensures that:

  • Armenian musical heritage continues

  • Displaced children maintain structure and inspiration

  • Community bonds remain strong

  • Identity survives beyond geography

Rebuilding after Artsakh requires more than physical reconstruction. It requires cultural preservation.

Lorik Humanitarian Fund’s Commitment

At Lorik Humanitarian Fund, our work with displaced Artsakh families extends beyond emergency assistance.

Our initiatives include:

Each project is designed to restore dignity and promote long-term self-sufficiency.

Garen’s work represents that mission in action.
