Rebuilding After Displacement: Arman Tonoyan’s Story

In 2023, thousands of Armenian families were forcibly displaced from Artsakh.

Among them was Arman Tonoyan, originally from the city of Martuni in Artsakh.

After the forced displacement, Arman and his family relocated to Tashir, to the village of Mikhayelovka, where they began the difficult process of rebuilding their lives.

A Home, But With Challenges

Through a housing initiative by Lorik Humanitarian Fund, Arman’s family received a home.

While securing a home was a critical first step, the structure required repairs, particularly to the roof.

With the financial support of our benefactors, necessary repairs were completed. The roof was changed, and the home was made livable.

This is what sustainable housing support looks like: not only providing shelter, but ensuring it is secure and functional.

Stability Through Self-Sufficiency

Today, Arman works in agriculture. He cultivates the land and supports his family through his own labor.

The goal of our housing initiatives is not dependency.

It is stability.

It is dignity.

It is enabling families displaced from Artsakh to rebuild independently and create long-term security for their children.

Building More Than Houses

At Lorik Humanitarian Fund, our work with displaced Artsakh families includes:

  • Permanent housing solutions

  • Structural renovations and repairs

  • Small business and agricultural support

  • Educational and community initiatives

Rebuilding after displacement requires more than temporary aid. It requires thoughtful, sustainable solutions that allow families to stand on their own.

Arman’s story is one example of that commitment in action.
