Seeing children training on used mattress foam instead of the proper equipment was unacceptable. After consulting with the athletics director of the Marduni region we have determined what equipment is necessary and are in the process of acquiring wrestling mats for the Kert village school gym.
The village of Medz Shen is a frontline village located in the Shushi district of Artsakh. Medz Shen and its neighboring village of Hin Shen are home to about 50 families. Unfortunately, there was no nurse to provide medical services. We successfully helped Medz Shen staff their clinic, and facilitated the relocation of the nurse’s entire family from Yerevan to the village.
The “Artsakh Chicks” program was created to help villagers replace their lost livestock and have an alternative source of protein. Since most the land where their cows, sheep, and goats graze is temporarily occupied by the azerbaijanis, we decided to replace those animals with chickens which do not require pastures to graze and can be kept close to home. Villagers were provided with 25 one month old chicks and 30 kilos of feed. The program has distributed more than 10,000 chicks and over 12,000 Kilos of feed, benefiting over 400 families in 9 villages across Artsakh.
